Phillips Proffessional Cold Blue A very simple but cheap way to re-blue shotgun and rifle barrels. Simply degrease all the parts you wish to re-blue, wire wool any rust away and then place in a shallow trough and mix with tap water. Totally immerse the parts and ensure they are totally covered by the liquid. Frequently brush the surface of the metal with short strokes. The metal surface will darken first bronze then blue then a very dark blue. This will take about 3 minutes. When the desired colour has been reached simply remove wash thoroughly then immediatly spray with gun oil. Thats it Its that simple. Dont pay a fortune to a gun smith have a go yourself, you will be amazed at the results. Deeply penetrates and bonds with the metal No need for special, expensive equipment. No special skills required to use. No need to send your gun away to be blue. An entire gun can be re-blued, virtually in minutes. Gives professional results, ideal for the amateur undercold conditions. For re-bluing trigger gaurds, top levers and barrels. 250ml Instructions off the bottle The parts must be completely degreased with a non oily solvent such as Phillips Gun Degreaser. Any traces of rust should be removed with steel wool and gun degreaser. Once degreased the parts must not be touched by hand as grease from the skin will leave marks. Phillips Cold Blue should be poured into a shallow trough made of plastic or glass and diluted with tap water, one part Blue plus three parts water. Immerse the parts in the trough and ensure they are totally covered by liquid. Use a small paint brush, about half an inch wide, to wipe over the surface of the metal with short strokes. The metal will slowly darken through bronze colours and blue to a very dark blue. This will take about three minutes . Screws and other small parts will only need an occassional brush over.
